Stara Novalja is quaint and quiet fishing village that
changed over the last few years into a beautiful bay resort.
It can't be seen from the mainland and is probably one of
the best kept secrets of the Adriatic coast.
The mild Mediterranean climate makes it ideal for water
sports and leisurely walks along the 4 kilometres attractive
bay.
In the spring of 2004, the discovery of a sunken 1st century BC merchant ship by Drazen Peranić revealed a collection of one hundred amphorae and the remains of two lead anchors.
The museum in the neighbouring town of Novalja has a number of exhibits from these discoveries.
